Wheat Harvest

Here you will find a few thoughts I have on the Wheat harvest.

Gen 30:14  And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son’s mandrakes.

Ruben was Jacob’s first son, the strongest, but he seems to have had a problem with lust throughout his life. Even as a young boy of only five or six he brought home these mandrakes to his mother Leah. Rachel asked for it as she was barren at the time and the plant also worked as a conception potion?. Later Reuben slept with Bilah, who already belonged to Jacob/Israel.  The consequence of this was that he lost the right as first born son.

Maybe this refers to our relationship with God. We are to be His Bride, but the world is going after its own lust. We make our own plans to get the promises of God. We try to set our own timelines. The consequence is that many will loose the right to be called son/daughter of God.

Exo 34:22  And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the first fruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year’s end.

During the wheat harvest the corner of the field must be left for the poor so they can glean from the field. Most commentaries agree that the corner is left at the end of the harvest, at the end of the field. Does this signify that the corner or end of the wheat is a remnant of Christians left Behind at the Rapture so those who are not yet saved can be saved?  A sheath that is forgotten on the field, after the harvest, may not be brought in by the  owner nor his servants, but left to the strangers in the land to glean.

Jdg 15:1  But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.

So Samson first turned his back on his wife and then when his temper subsided he thought he would make it up to her with a meal fit for royalty (the kid) to be had in her apartment before he would go in to her chambers. But her father stopped his from doing this. She was the daughter of a Philistine, and Israelis were expressly forbidden to marry them, yet Samson, God’s chosen still fell for her. Then of course Samson went and set everything on fire. All the harvests.

Rth 2:23  So she kept fast by the maidens of Boas to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.

Ruth on the other hand, she represents the Church, the Bride of Christ. Her story with Boaz is the amazing story of Christ and His Bride.  Boaz asked her to stay by his men from the time of Passover and the Barley harvest till the time of the wheat harvest. This is the age of the church as I understand it.

1Sa 6:13  And they of Bethshemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley: and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.

In the time of Samuel the Philistines had taken the Ark of the Covenant. But they could not stand the presence of the Ark in any of their cities for too long because it only caused them harm. Is it not similar to what is happening in the world today? The world don’t want Christians in their midst and rather try to get them out because the presence of God causes them to reflect on their ways and they hate it.

During the wheat harvest the Ark was returned to Israel and the people rejoiced. The presence of God will return to His people during the wheat harvest. During the gathering in  of the wheat harvest.

1Sa 12:17  Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.

As for the people, they asked for a king to rule them, and this was a wicked thing to do. This happened during the wheat harvest, So maybe this refers to the one world leader, the Antichrist who will take power when the rapture has taken place? Saul looked like the perfect king in the beginning, but later he became a wicked ruler.  He did not follow the Law of Moses and became possessed by evil spirits.  In the end he was replaced by David, just like Jesus will replace the false ruler.

Mat 13:30  Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Tares are also known as false wheat, when true wheat is ready to be harvested their heads are bowed, but not tares. This represents the insignificance and worthlessness of wicked men; who, when the harvest comes, the end of the world, will not be gathered in by the reapers, the angels, into Christ’s garner into heaven as the wheat, the righteous will; but like the tares and chaff will be cast into unquenchable fire. The tares can be presented by formal professors, hypocrites, and heretics; whom he will have removed out of his kingdom, his church, his field, in the world: and this order shows, that the angels will have a perfect and exact knowledge of these persons; and that their work will be to separate them from the righteous; when the churches will be pure, and without spot, or wrinkle: and this will be done first; that is, these wicked men will be first removed out of the church, before their more severe punishment takes place:

Many people are complaining that the Church is shrinking, that the numbers are dropping. Is this not a sign that God is removing from his flock those who should not be there in the first place, so when the harvest begins, only the faithful will be left.

Well this has been interesting. If you have some thoughts I would be happy to hear from you .  Enjoy!

I feel a bit overwhelmed at times.  I love my life and the challenges it presents,  but sometimes when it rains… it pours!

This is one of the main reasons Time Management is so important.  Like this week.  My husband’s car broke and so we are sharing mine.  This however leads to many clashing events.  How to negotiate which is more important is a delicate matter.

Yet at the same time the extra time together as a family, even just a few minutes, were absolutely amazing. I will miss it when I have my wheels back.

I know that I need to prioritise events and I need to learn how to delegate. So here is a list of things I am going to try to implement in my life.

Five tips for better Time Management

NTA gala event Tlokwe Area Office

Today is the Tlokwe Area Teacher Awards.  The event is being hosted at Technical High school Potch.  Everything looks beautiful.

Mr CMJ De Villiers had a message of hope for a tired audience and a blessing to follow.  Batsmen Kolwane had the voice of an angel and filled the room with her love song.

Mrs Sebolai tried her best to encourage the Principals to participate in the Leadership category.  It is sad that the budget had to be cut for this year, but clearly the passion of the panel of judges had not.  Thank you for all your efforts.

The social partners of NAPTOSA,  SAOU and SADTU each had a chance to thank all the participants.

After this last years’ National winner Mr Morné Smit shared his experience with us.  What an inspiration.  And now I’m competing against him this year! He asked us what rewards we get… the little tip in the bank at the end of the month? Or the challenge of teaching someone that knew nothing something. Get a vested interest in education. The last way is the NTA where we get recognised.
